Dear Civic Committee Member:
We look forward to seeing you virtually at the Civic Committee Meeting on Monday, March 8th. As previously communicated, the meeting will be at a special time, beginning at 10:30 am and will conclude at 12:00 pm. We are pleased to welcome Speaker of the Illinois House of Representatives, The Honorable Emanuel "Chris" Welch for a discussion at the beginning of the meeting. Some of the topics we have asked the Speaker to discuss include: his goals for his role as Speaker of the Illinois House of Representative, key areas of focus as we move further into this Spring’s legislative session, and his long term vision for the State. We also have asked him to share his thoughts on being the first Black Speaker of the House in Illinois history and the first new Democratic Speaker in over 40 years. Also, in an effort to make the most of our time with Speaker Welch, we ask that you submit questions for the Speaker prior to the meeting. We would like to ensure that your most pressing questions are addressed during this session. Please submit all questions to Dea Meyer at email@example.com at least 48 hours prior to the March 8th meeting. Please find the Speaker’s bio here: Biography - Emanuel "Chris" Welch, Speaker of the Illinois House of Representatives.
At the conclusion of Speaker Welch’s remarks, we will use the remaining time to discuss the following Civic Committee and affiliate work: 1) our Business Diversity Initiative (BDI); 2) Kids First Chicago; and 3) State Finance/Tax Policy.
As a gentle reminder, participation in Civic Committee meetings is limited to Civic Committee members. We kindly ask that you refrain from adding additional members of your staff to participate or to serve as your proxy in the meeting. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in this matter.
