PROMOTING THE SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC VITALITY OF THE CHICAGO REGION

In our work we partner with business leaders, public officials, and other civic and community organizations to identify and address the region's key challenges. We focus on key subject areas to provide direction to our efforts.

Public Safety Task Force

To help address urgent concerns among our members and the broader public about gun violence in our City, the Civic Committee has created a Public Safety Task Force to help us all better understand the issues and what works to address them, define a clear role for the business community, and contribute constructively to the ongoing public dialogue.

We are working collaboratively with the City of Chicago and other governmental entities, community-based violence prevention programs, the research and philanthropic communities, and other stakeholders to build partnerships in pursuit of ambitious, but realistic goals to make Chicago a safer, stronger, and healthier place to live, work and do business.

Business Diversity Task Force

The Business Diversity Task Force is an effort to promote inclusive economic growth in the Chicago region, leveraging the buying power and employment opportunities created by our members.

The Business Diversity Task Force is chaired by Scott Santi, Chairman and CEO of ITW, and John Rogers, Chairman and co-CEO of Ariel Investments, and will develop goals, recommendations, strategies and initiatives for the business community to support and scale minority-owned businesses and make the most of our region’s diverse workforce.

Meaningful change will require both near-term actions to build momentum and a long-term mindset, strategies, and commitment to benefit Black and Latino-owned businesses and drive greater equity in Chicago’s South and West sides.
