Dear Civic Committee Member:

On behalf of Scott Santi, Jenny Scanlon, and myself, it is with great pleasure that we announce the appointment of Michael G. O’Grady, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Northern Trust Corporation as the new Chair of the Commercial Club of Chicago.

Jenny Scanlon, President and CEO of UL Solutions, will simultaneously transition to Chair of the Civic Committee, making her the first woman to lead the organization in its 39-year history, and Vice Chair of the Commercial Club after leading the Commercial Club since February 2020.

Please join me in thanking Scott for his invaluable leadership and commitment over the past six years. Under Scott’s tenure, numerous initiatives have been undertaken by the Civic Committee, Commercial Club, and our affiliates which include ensuring Chicago’s role as the transportation hub of the country, elevating Chicago’s technology ecosystem and promoting inclusive economic growth now under the banner of P33, ensuring smooth transitions in government leadership, undertaking our Business Diversity Initiative, continuing to press for Illinois fiscal reform, and addressing the significant needs of our region through the COVID-19 pandemic from health care delivery to the allocation of federal resources to restore our region. Each of these efforts has better positioned Chicago and Illinois as we move forward. We know he will continue to be engaged for many years to come. 

Finally, please join me in welcoming Mike as Chair of the Commercial Club and congratulating Jenny on her transition to Chair of the Civic Committee. Both organizations have the momentum, innovative ideas, and strong leadership to make progress on some of the biggest challenges facing our region.
